The Syrian Army has now taken all of northern Hama Governorate from rebel forces, creating a new frontline inside the southern part of Idlib Governorate 25 km shorter than before (and freeing up many front line guard troops for future operations). The government took from rebel forces the strategic city of Khan Shaykhun, as well as the devastated towns of Latamina, Kafr Zita, and Morek. The Turkish Army observation post in northern Hama has still not been evacuated, and is now surrounded by Syrian Army troops and tanks at close range (as short as 100 meters). The moderate rebel group Jaish al-Izza has lost its territory due to this battle. This leaves jihadist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in control of the front line with government forces, with a few exceptions in the southeast of Idlib (such as the Free Syrian Army Mountain Hawks Brigade and the National Liberation Front).

The Russian tactic of creating 'cauldrons;. that is creating pockets , restricting supplies and then closing and eliminating the encircled enemy is a favorite one .This is in play in the Idlib area at present. The completion of the war has been complicated by Turkish interference. and by the threat of another 'false flag' Chemical attack ,to bring in the Western air force.
This appears to have been sorted diplomatically and now the Syrian Army ,supported by Russian Air power are going for the kill.
The remaining terrorists in Idlib are hard core and include Chinese Muslim Uygurs.
This was never a Civil War,,it was a regime change operation by the West and Gulf Monarchies.

US taking over from IS & Al-Nusra Front by seizing Syrian oil at behest of 'money lobbies' – Assad

Powerful lobbies are behind the US rush for Syria's natural resources, and the Americans are carrying on where Islamist groups left off by "stealing and selling" them, President Bashar Assad has said.
In October, Donald Trump made headlines by ordering all US troops out of Syria, leaving the devastated country to anyone who wants "to come in and fight." But weeks later he backtracked on that decision, bluntly stating that troops would remain to "protect" Syrian oil fields east of the Euphrates.

Things are going pretty quickly. At this rate Jarjanaz will be taken in two days.

This just drags on and on. What's the chances of low scale warfare just dragging on for years?

The US Forces are in Syria illegally. They are flagrantly stealing Syrisa oil. This is Economic warfare to degrade the Syrian economy and prevent re-building.
All this is against UN Resolutions, but the US just ignores the UN. The US is a rogue State controlled by asset stealing predators with no respect for International Law.
They are out on a limb in Syria ,with long and precarious supply lines. The remaining Syrian territory and oilfields will be reclaimed slowly but surely. The US troops will be eased out and are in a no-win position.

Most insurgency based civil wars last 10-15 years statistically speaking.

The war is largely over. Its just mopping up left. The endgame delayed by Turkey and the USA support for their proxies.
The government controls 90% of population, the only thing stopping it now is Turkey in parts of North and USA in far east.

Major combat is confined to just 1 out of 14 Governorates (Idlib) , minor combat in one other northern area thanks to Turkey, some low level guerrilla activity in some remote areas in the interior.
