In fairness though, the Lincoln Memorial wouldn't have the same meaning or significance attached to it bereft of it's centerpiece statue.
If the big ugly bollix Lincoln was dug out of the chair and replaced with someone more likeable it would solve the issue.
Davy Crockett maybe?

This video makes plain who the big assholes are: the smug journos and chat hosts. This was a deba te between a Georgia governor and a Black. When the Black used the word bigot, the host said all bigots were suporters of the white governor, eventually forcing the governor off the show. Honest Abe, me a$$
The enemy here is not the watermelon eater but Dick Cavett, a stupid man with a stupid name

There was an episode a while back where libtards where calling for the removal of Robert E. Lee statues across the South. How Orwellian.

Jeff Davis ye thief, if I had ye but here
Yer beautiful plans I'd be ruinin'
For I'd give ye a taste of me bayonet be Dad
For tryin' to burst up the Union!

Then the Irish Brigade into battle was seen
Their blood in her cause shedding freely
With a bayonet charge we rushed on the foe
With a shout for the land of Shillelagh

Then surely Columbia will never forget
While valour and fame hold communion
How nobly the brave Irish Volunteers fought
In defence of the flag of the Union!

And if ever old Ireland for freedom should strike
With a helping hand of her quite carin'
And the stars and the stripes will be alongside
The flag of the sweet land of Erin 🎶

Lincoln was a consummate politician. His policy was not so much as free the slaves as keeping the States together. As can be seen by reading between the lines of Ken Burns excellent documentary The Civil War.
.
After watching this on BBC 2 in the early 1990 I delved a bit more into Lincoln. One of the most peculiarities was the strange coincidences between Lincoln and Kennedy.
One of the best TV historical series by Ken Burns. Lincoln reminds me of Dev, would run with the hare and run with the hounds as it suited. Slavery was an abhorrent practice, the only ones benefitting the very rich slave owners. The south was economically backwards with of course the vested interests refusing change regardless, while the industrial north was forging ahead. The lesser of two evils won the war and Lincoln just happened to be on the winning side, no sympathy for the easily led rednecks from the south.

The flag of the New York Fightin' Irish regiment is in the Dail presented by John F Kennedy on his visit here. You can see the bullet holes in it.
