The Julian Assange thread

Journalist Julian Assange has finished his sentence for skipping bail
yet is still being kept in prison awaiting an extradition order to the US.

The west lectures China on it's human rights yet in the case of Julian Assange we have indefinite detention without charge.
First in the embassy for 7 years. Then again after his sentence on a minor charge has been completed in a british prison.

Assange has done us all a great public service by shining a spotlight on the activities of those in power.
We should support him. If Trump had any balls he'd drop the extradition order!

I wonder if govts around the world will be using this virus to kill off dissidents, enemies of the state etc as i believe the UK is hoping Assange gets it too or at the very least does not care. Contrast with Iran which has released 10s of thousands of prisoners. Mr Assange has been badly abused by the UK govt who have bent every law and code they have to get him delivered to America as a kind of tribute to US power and influence.

God bless you Julian and stay safe.

Only Britain can do sinister deep state like this....

Declassified has also discovered that the judge, Vanessa Baraitser, has ordered extradition in 96% of the cases she has presided over for which information is publicly available.

Baraitser was appointed a district judge in October 2011 based at the Chief Magistrate’s Office in London, after being admitted as a solicitor in 1994. Next to no other information is available about her in the public domain.

A British barrister, who wished to remain anonymous, but who is not involved with the Assange case, told Declassified: “The resistance to disclosure here is curious. A court is a public authority for the purposes of the Human Rights Act and a judge is an officer of the court. It is therefore more than surprising that the first refusal argued that, for the purposes of the FOIA, there is no public body here subject to disclosure.”

The barrister added: “The alternative argument on data doesn’t stack up. A court acts in public. There is no default anonymity of the names of cases, unless children are involved or other certain limited circumstances, nor the judges who rule on them. Justice has to be seen to be done.”
'Justice must be seen to be done' but the case against Assange never had any taint of justice from the beginning.

She seems like a deeply corrupt (dependably corrupt) judge that the UK Govt keeps on ice for when it wants an absolutely guaranteed decision in a certain direction.

Morechai Vanunu is a case that seems to have slipped from the public eye.
He did I think 18 years in an Israeli jail for revealing Israel's rogue nuclear bombs program. Since his 'release' , he has been essentially under house arrest, constantly harrassed by the Israeli secret police.

Vanunu has asked for political asylum abroad. Do you think our useless Low IQ Coveney would give it to him?

No, the Oirish prefer fat welfare fraudsters from Africa who are 'fleeing' 'politics and things like that in my country'.

A Nobel Committee that genuinely stood for peace and human rights would long ago have given the Prize to both Vanunu and Assange instead of the nonsensical choices they have made in recent years.

And while all the bullshite continues in the US.

The U.S. is Determined to Make Julian Assange Pay for Exposing the Cruelty of Its War on Iraq

meanwhile the US refuses to extradite the wife of a US diplomat
who drove over and killed a motorcyclist on the wrong side of the road then scarpered.
Julian killed nobody. He just cast a light on murdering scumbags.
