Please update as and when you see fit.

Please bare in mind that the building of illegal settlements are war crimes, humanitarian abuse and, only possible because of the apparatus of state terrorism that Israel deploys in order to subdue the Palestinians/Syrians they occupy - illegally - so news of them should be highlighted here too.

I will start with this news:

Israeli soldiers not in danger when they killed woman, boy

Israeli forces “acted without any justification and did not face lethal danger” when they shot three Palestinians, killing two of them, in separate incidents last month, the human rights group B’Tselem has said.
Two of those shot, one fatally, were children.
Khalid Bahr Ahmad Bahr, 15, was slain on 20 October when he was shot in the back from a distance of approximately 20 meters while running away from soldiers at the entrance to a grove near Route 60 in Beit Ommar, a village in the southern occupied West Bank.
A military inquiry into the incident determined that “the soldiers’ lives were not in danger, and that they could have acted differently in this case,” according to the Tel Aviv newspaper Haaretz.
An Israeli army spokesperson said that the incident is being investigated by the Military Police Investigation Unit, and will then be referred to the Military Advocate General.

Israel Plots Largest Settlement Expansion in Occupied Syrian Golan since 1980

'Arab human rights organization resists Israeli plans to construct 1,600 settlement units, and expropriate 25,000 acres of Syrian land in the occupied Golan.

Al-Marsad: Arab Human Rights Center in the Golan announced, in a press release, that it has written to the European Union, European governments and the Permanent Members of the UN Security Council regarding Israel’s plans to expand Katrzin settlement and establish ‘Hermon National Park’ in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

The Israeli Finance Ministry approved plans to build 1,600 additional settlement units in Katzrin in October. About 8,000 settlers live in Katzrin atop the destroyed Syrian villages of Qasrin, Shqef and Sanawber. It is the largest settlement in the occupied Syrian Golan.
“This will be the largest expansion of an illegal Israeli settlement in the Occupied Syrian Golan since the 1980s,” a letter from Al-Marsad to the Delegation of the European Union to Israel reads.

Al-Marsad also calls attention to a second Israeli plan for the occupied Syrian Golan, called ‘Hermon National Park.’ The park depends on appropriating 25,000 acres (more than 82,000 dunams) of agricultural land used by residents of Majd al-Shams and Ein Qynia.
Majd al-Shams stands to be particularly devastated by the plan: the park would surround the village from the north and west, thus prohibiting any future expansion of it and essentially besieging it. According to Al-Marsad, about 800 families living in Majd al-Shams are in urgent need of housing, but cannot secure an Israeli construction permit to build.

In hopes of disrupting the plans, Al-Marsad calls on:

The international community to strongly condemn plans for the construction of 1,600 settlement units in the illegal settlement of Katzrin and the planned expropriation of Syrian land under the guise of the ‘Hermon National Park’ plan; and obtain binding commitments from Israel that it will stop these activities.
The organization also “invites foreign governments and international organizations to send fact-finding missions to the Occupied Syrian Golan to witness, firsthand, the deteriorating human rights situation.”
Israel forcibly transferred 130,000 Syrians from the Golan and destroyed 300 of its towns and villages in 1967 to clear the way for its ongoing illegal occupation.'

Yes folks. That's "anti-Zionist" in quotes...
Child murder. Genocide. Apartheid. Land stealing. Colonialism. Profiteering. War-mongering...
Blame the troubles of the world on them. Blame your own troubles on them...
Diminish the Holocaust. Promote narratives of competitive victimhood. Lambast the Israelis for debasing the memory of their dead to promote their own victimhood. Paint the Arabs as only innocent blameless victims of the most abominable malice in the world...
Off we go again. This is the thread. Anything goes. Let the demonisation begin anew!

I prefered the old name for it: The "I hate Israel" thread.

In today's UK Independent:

Israel becoming 'safe haven for paedophiles,' activists claim

''
Activists fear Israel is becoming a safe haven for paedophiles thanks to the country’s unique Law of Return for the world’s Jewish people.

A Jewish person from anywhere across the globe can be fast-tracked for citizenship in Israel, as well as their spouse, children and grandchildren.

An 1954 amendment to the law bans "a person with a criminal past, likely to endanger public welfare” but campaigners say sex abusers are slipping through the net.

“Israel is becoming a safe haven for paedophiles due to the unique opportunity available to all Jews from anywhere in the world to immigrate there,” said child abuse survivor Manny Waks, founder of child sex abuse advocacy group Kol V'Oz, speaking to The Independent.

“This provides a relatively efficient and effective way to evade justice from other countries. It also provides a sanctuary to those who have already been convicted.

”It's important to note that while there are some criminal background checks as part of the immigration process, there are multiple ways to overcome this requirement - for example, convicted Jewish paedophiles may enter and remain in Israel as tourists indefinitely.“

Jewish Community Watch says that 32 paedophiles in their database have moved from countries around the world to Israel over the past decade.

It says 12 Jewish paedophiles, from across the globe, have moved to countries other than Israel.

“Education of this issue in the Haredi world is lacking. There are serious shortfalls,” Mr Waks, from Melbourne, told the Times of Israel. “They bring teachers in and out of yeshivas without doing checks.

“The Israeli government needs to look at this issue to address it, because it is an injustice to the victims and a danger to Israeli children.”

Israeli conscientious objectors sent to military prison for second

An IDF tribunal sentenced two Israeli conscientious objectors, Tamar Alon and Tamar Ze’evi, to 10 days in military prison on Monday for refusing to serve in the Israeli occupation.
Two weeks ago, the young women declared their conscientious objection at the Israeli army’s Tel Hashomer induction base, saying that they refuse to take part in the oppression of the Palestinian people. They were sentenced to seven days in military prison at the time.

At the end of their current prison stint, the two will be released for the weekend, after which they will be required to once again present themselves at the induction base.
They will then likely declare their refusal once again, and be handed a third prison sentence, a cycle that can repeat itself for months on end.
Israeli law allows for conscientious objection, but in practice it is only ever accepted on grounds of pacifism, not for political reasons, a category in which the IDF includes opposing the occupation.
Tamar Ze’evi and Tamar Alon are both asking to perform an alternative civilian national service instead of military service.

We so respect these two young women for their stand against the injustice of the occupation. The Israeli government see their example as a threat with no doubt other conscientious objectors desireous of similar action.
Let us hope the publicity of these womens' action is not so stifled in Israel that others will not be able to laud their bravery and join in their struggle for justice.

Nah, that would be censorship, and if anything I think it was respectful of max to open up a separate thread in response to the other thread, because they are separate issues. Two wrongs don't make a right..
