Swedish soldier reports attack by unknown assailants during exercise

A Swedish soldier has filed a report to the police claiming he was attacked by two unknown figures during an exercise at a firing range in the west of the country.

“We had an exercise in a restricted area where there shouldn’t be anyone present without clearance.

One of our soldiers felt unwell and went to a cabin.

There he was met by what is thought to be two people who didn’t have authorization and were not part of the exercise.”

“A situation arose where the soldier was scratched and received minor injuries. We don’t have much to say beyond that,” he added.

The incident was reported to police on Monday, but investigators said there was little progress made so far.

“The investigation is at a standstill, we have no leads to pursue and nor do we have descriptions of the two people who are said to have attacked the soldier.”

Migrant stopped for a routine check by Greek police 'shot and wounded an officer before killing himself'

A migrant stopped by Greek police shot and wounded officers before killing himself.

The man was questioned by a motorcycle patrol before opening fire on officers in central Athens, reports say.

He was found dead minutes later, from a head wound that is believed to be self-inflicted.

Police have refused to say whether he was fatally wounded when officers returned fire.

The incident was sparked when officers asked for the man's papers. It is believed the migrant then drew a gun and fired, wounding an officer in the shoulder.

Iraqi refugee arrested for sex attacks on Chinese students in west Germany. Case raises question of legalising the use of DNA evidence found at crime scenes.

Officials said on Tuesday that they had arrested a 31-year-old man living in a refugee home after two Chinese students reported being sexually assaulted in recent months near Bochum University.

The suspect is described as being an Iraqi asylum seeker, who came to Germany in 2015 and lived with his wife and two children near the scene of the two attacks, state prosecutors said.

Photos allowed police to identify the suspect living at the refugee home.

The man was then arrested after a DNA test was conducted and linked him to both attacks.

Here is something interesting:

The case has also raised the discussion of using DNA evidence found at crime scenes to determine characteristics of suspects, like hair, eye, or skin colour, to narrow down police searches.

This is currently not allowed, but has also been brought up after the arrest of a 17-year-old Afghan teen in the rape and murder of a young woman in Freiburg.

Justice Minister Heiko Maas said on Tuesday he was open to further discussion about such use of DNA.

........................

So right now, it is illegal in German to test DNA samples at crime scenes to determine the characteristics of suspects?
Political correctness has crippled police investigations?

Where else is this happening in Europe?
