Can't really do anything about it until Islam is recognised as something undesirable.
The guy has a British passport. Under EU rules he can move to Ireland and purchase property.
Don't know too much about building regulations but the convent is already a religious structure so that would probably enable being turned into a mosque without needing permission. Perhaps as it is listed as protected, that might stop it.
Yes its tricky,I am speaking from the English experience. Our ray of light has been leaving the EU,but of course that's a painfully slow business.I really feel for Ireland if you don't stop the madness. It maybe to late for England, one reason is we have so many well meaning people, that seem to think its a treat to have an overcrowded land space and alien heritage and culture, which leads to so many problems, like loss of identity and cheap labour, ghettoes and housing chaos.

And so it begins.
Its a standard way we have seen Muslims colonise locations and turn them into "Muslim areas" all over England.

Move in with a small number which is no big issue to anyone.
Then build a Mosque.

All of a sudden many more Muslims will move in attracted by the presence of a Mosque.
They will then announce that they need a bigger Mosque which then gets built thanks to the largesse of the generous Gulf States. Foreign Imams start appearing preaching all kinds of objectionable crap.

They have large numbers of children and decide they need Muslim schools where the pupils will attend wearing traditional Arab/Pakistani clothing and where they will be taught views anathema to European values. The children will get married off to their Pakistani cousins who arrive in the country uneducated and unable to speak English to spend their life living off social welfare near the Mosque.

Non Muslims start feeling like foreigners in their own land so move away to an area that still feels like home.
Bullcrap. They have a mosque in Ballyhaunis since 1987. The local muslims never got anybody to pay for it but themselves. Actually it needed a good bit of repair work in recent times- the place had run down quite a lot. All again paid by local muslims.
No foreign imam ever came and nobody asked for a muslim school. All muslim kids go to the local national and community school with all the other kids around. No special treatment.
The Syrians and Pakistanis actually work for their upkeep and don't hang around on SW- unlike some 24/7/365 posters here.

‘Social cohesion’ of Ballyhaunis ‘under threat’

Two leading community figures in Ireland’s most diverse town have called for other towns to step forward and take their ‘fair share’ of refugees coming into the country.

Ballyhaunis Parish Priest Fr Stephen Farragher and Secretary of the Community Council, Mary Donnelly, both made the call ahead of increased numbers of refugees coming into Ireland in the coming months due to the Mediterranean humanitarian crisis.

With many of the refugees being Syrian, there is speculation that Ballyhaunis would be an obvious magnet for them, given that there is an established Syrian community in the town, as well as a Mosque.

However, both Fr Farragher and Mary Donnelly argue that the town has taken more than its fair share of migrants. CSO figures from 2012 show that ‘white Irish’ people account for 40 percent of the town’s population, while the local national school, Scoil Íosa, has 28 percent ‘white Irish’ pupils among their roll of 322 children.

“There is a feeling that as a town Ballyhaunis has absorbed more than its share,” Fr Farragher told The Mayo News. “This came up recently at a Parish Council meeting, and that was the feeling.

There are over 200 asylum seekers in the Direct Provision Centre in the old convent in the town, whilst Ballyhaunis also has large Asian and Eastern European communities.

“There is such a mix of people from different backgrounds, and I’m not sure Ballyhaunis is in a position to take many more refugees,” Mary Donnelly told The Mayo News.

“The indigenous population is coming close to being the minority and the social cohesion of the town is under threat,” added Ms Donnelly, who argued that migrants ‘don’t take as active a part in the social economy of the town’ as the traditional community.

There are also issues with language resources in the local schools, with principals of the national and secondary schools in the town expressing concern over the lack of sufficient State supports they receive for teaching many new arrivals who have little or no English when they start school in the town.

Course they don't need a special school, the local school is nearly only them in it.

I wonder how many of them really feel Irish and that they belong there. How many will marry non Muslims. If they aren't causing trouble is that too much to ask? This is one small pocket of Ireland and doesn't prove anything.I doubt that these people will ever really feel Irish or that they belong there. The muslim psychology isn't compatible with Ireland and or European society.

Most of them just made it into Greece. Many got transport further north into central EU.
Some of them are surely economic migrants. Those looking for asylum will be tested and treated accordingly.
But the decision is not up to you or me.
Some of them were in accommodation & were offered jobs in Poland, but skipped out in the middle of the night..to cross the border to Germany, for larger social welfare.
It's a Free-for-all Olli, no order to it at all.
The migrants 'pick & choose' the country they Want to live in, so they choose the same countries Over & Over again.
The decision concerns everybody, whether Germans or Swedes, or Irish, & the citizens living there already have rights too.
in the meantime, the homeless of the host countries are left sleeping in doorways.
whereas the migrants expect better treatment, & if they don't get it, there's a riot... or they set the place on fire.

Mr McDowell said the abuse of the asylum process by people trying to gain a foothold in the State for economic purposes tied up resources which could be used more effectively on initiatives for refugees.

In this 2004 article it is said there were 160 Ballyhaunis Muslims approaching marrying age. It would indeed be interesting to know how many of them married locals. With the standard template we have seen in England pretty much all would be expected to marry illiterate cousins imported from Pakistan whose offspring would be brought up surrounded by other Muslims having as little to do with the native population as is possible.

Up to 160 of the Ballyhaunis Muslims are under 20 years old and will be marrying and needing houses in the not too distant future, he says.

It's no accident either, that they want to build it on the site of an old catholic institution, they take great pride in that sort of act of dominion, though they'll never say it. The clonskeagh mosque was also built on an old catholic girl's school, I think- Mount Carmel, maybe?

This is the end of Ireland if it isn't stopped. Not that Ireland isn't already finished.

Islam is a nationality bluffing as a religion in order to abuse the laws of freedom and decency that civilised people have established, so none of them feel Irish. Just as none of them anywhere feel connected to the gobshite countries protecting and nurturing them. In fact, they tend to reserve their most vehement hatred for their host countries, probably because it somewhat forces them to decide between their religion and their nationality.

Really, they're just like a parasite, in the very basic, natural sense of the word. A parasite that destroys its host in order to survive. The funny thing is that the end of Islam probably won't come until they have total domination of the whole world, only then will it become obvious how useless it is. This is probably why they have built in rules to allow non Muslims to survive, the useful ones who keep the structures in tact.
