Stephen Fry will not be prosecuted for blasphemy

Decision ‘even more dangerous’ than a prosecution, according to Atheist Ireland

Chairman of Atheist Ireland, Michael Nugent, said on Monday night the reported reason for not proceeding with the prosecution was because gardaí could not find a large number of people who were outraged by Mr Fry’s comments.

“This creates an incentive for people to demonstrate outrage when they see or hear something that they believe is blasphemous,” he said. “It also shows that the police take our blasphemy law seriously, as indeed they should do, regardless of the nod and wink attitude of our legislators.”

Agree with them here. This means if you say something similar about Islam and they are incentivised to go ape-shit so the gardaí will prosecute.
The original complaint was obviously made to challenge the law.

Well we certainly don't want the muslim cranks getting any more power so lets hope these anachronistic laws can be done away with.

Scary reasoning alright, not to mention fucking amateur hour.

What at a mess this country is, really and truly.

You don't think they'd find the required numbers of offended people, whatever the hell that is, if he'd said what he said about their lad?

I think having laws because someone's religious beliefs are offended is a lot of nonsense whether it's one or a thousand people offended.I mean I find God save the Queen offensive but I don't expect the law to prosecute someone over it.

That's not really the point, though. Anyone with half a brain knows the law shouldn't exist.

But there is a law, and our law enforcement has chosen not to enforce it because it didn't effect enough people, or whatever nonsense they're saying. You can bet it will be enforced when the new lads are 'blasphemed against'.

Gerry Adams finding his balls?

"Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has demanded a referendum "to allow Stephen Fry or anyone else" to air their views on God without fear of criminal charges.

.......

In the Dáil this afternoon, Mr Adams said a single complaint had led to the "spectacle of Mr Fry being investigated by the gardaí on a criminal charge of blasphemy".

"This story was widely reported in the international media with appropriate mocking commentary and some disbelief," he said.

"Blasphemy should have no place in the Constitution"

Adams calls for referendum on blasphemy

A referendum would be brilliant, the chance to see the Libtards having to go against the Muslims. Or not. Priceless.

If the regime had any sense they'd quit this effeminate apology-malarky and spin it as a sassy Game of Thrones thing and threaten Fry with the birch if he ever darkened our country again (He'd probably like that though).

But I think the bulk of the punishment should be meted out to the evil genius of this devilish affair -- Gay Byrne. In fact, no doubt that there's even more arch-conspirators in this blatant blasphemous conspiracy.. e. the entire RTE hierarchy. So, a good flogging for them as well.

Am I the only one who ever thought that he might be more than just gay by name?

So if the law is scrapped then no one will be prosecuted, that's my point.

Ok.

2+2 = 4

I hope you're aware of the importance of that fact, it's a vital piece of knowledge, and not many know about it.

Pass it on, but please credit me.
You are not amusing, you come across as a small town person with a small town mind and an inferiority complex.
