Blog Speculation on the Origins of CoV 19

  • Moderator
A thread to discuss the various theories on the possible origins of the virus.

Nobody knows for sure exactly what happened here so there is room for some speculation. Both scientific and political.

The official story is that it jumped from a bat coronavirus reservoir animal (a Bat) to an as yet unconfirmed secondary vector animal, possibly a reptile such as a snake or a pangolin, and from there to humans complete with remarkably good human to human transmission characteristics.

Some say it was accidentally released from a chinese lab doing AIDS / coronavirus research or dual use military/medical research

Others say it originated in Ft Dietrick in the US and was released during the Wuhan world military games in late 2019 to screw up the Chinese
as a clumsy move in the ongoing trade war.

Still others blame it on big pharma movers and shakers with key patents in their names for the purposes of profit through a form of disaster capitalism.

What do you folks think? Post your theories / research / opinions here.

I found these links interesting in my own exploration of the topic.

Given the utterly vile and reckless abuse of our planet over the last century and more, the only surprise is that disasters like this don't happen a lot more often. But, given the exponential acceleration in the despoliation of the earth over the last couple of decades, I'm quite sure these viruses will be hitting us hard and fast from now on. Mother Nature has a lot of weapons at her disposal to strike down the greed, hubris and ignorance of humankind.

Released from the lab seems to be the most plausible explanation, possibly accidental. They were working on these types of virus, also apparently as GD said, working on an aids vaccine. Supposedly not the first time this lab has messed up either.

Seeing that the first known case of this Bat virus occurred in Wuhan and this laboratory in Wuhan was the only place in China known to have been messing about with Bat viruses and had been doing so for years and had been previous lambasted for it's lax bio security and that there is no bat colony anywhere near Wuhan and that there were no bats on sale in Wuhan food market then the known circumstantial evidence points directly at this laboratory as a source.

Perhaps it's an opportunity to reverse the course of toxic individualism / capitalism
and return to more collectivist behaviour for the common good

Without a doubt. It's clear that the young generation are moving in that direction. They might be deluded in many respects, but they are not impressed with the Gordon Gekko ideal that so captivated their parents and even grandparents.

Was SARS and swine flu 'yankee' too?

SARS and MERS were just natural viruses AFAIK.

Well, swine flu started in a US corporate factory pig farm in Mexico so in that case I'd say yes it was as a result of yankee actions!
Breeding millions of pigs in very close proximity to humans was a recipe for disaster.

Maybe it was just that.

Or maybe it was a for profit / military exercise to study infection patterns and rates
and make a tidy profit for a few well connected people at the same time?

Ever heard talk on the internet re: Donald Rumsfeld and Tamiflu?
Google it!

Interestingly, China was hit with a virus that killed most of it's factory farmed pigs before the coronavirus.
How biologically unlucky they have been of late!
