Yes, that commonwealth.

Of course, it is the Mail, and it was a leading question, but the fact that Deputy McDonald failed to reject the idea out of hand is 'interesting'. Finally, West Brits have another party they can safely vote for.

I was pleasantly surprised by ML's recent reaching out to the Unionist community.

Very brave and statesmanlike of her and could make SF less toxic to mainstream voters in due course.

On the contrary, if she thinks the Republic would vote for rejoining the Commonwealth she's very, very far out of touch, in my view.

Oh I agree it is unlikely that the Republic would vote to join the vestigial Commonwealth - but I'm not convinced the 'south' would vote for UI either. We need more mutual respect - Arlene attending GAA, ML reaching out etc.

It's refreshing, but a long way yet to go, imo.
