Anyone here read Fletcher's non-fictional ruminations on allegory?

Working Class Hero
By John Lennon

As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
A working class hero is something to be

They hurt at home and they hurt you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

Not my favourite by any means, but one that for some reason keeps me coming back...

A noiseless patient spider,
I mark’d where on a little promontory it stood isolated,
Mark’d how to explore the vacant vast surrounding,
It launch’d forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself,
Ever unreeling them, ever tirelessly speeding them.

And you O my soul where you stand,
Surrounded, detached, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing, seeking the spheres to connect them,
Till the bridge you will need be form’d, till the ductile anchor hold,
Till the gossamer thread you fling catch somewhere, O my soul.

Walt Whitman.
Whitman is the shit.

There once was a troll named biddycampbell
whose posts they tended to ramble
a remarkable stew
of bollocks and pooh
that would send you asleep at preamble

Yes, because someone who thought reading Eliot under the influence of illegal substances is anywhere near the correct way to appreciate him, has the authority to tell me whether I know anything about verse or not..

Go back to your safe space and type up some crap about how music is the least "pretentious" medium. You know absolutely nothing about what you are talking about.

Trollius, I have no doubts as to your appreciation of literature. (How is Cressida BTW?)
Did you like my verse? :ROFLMAO:
