The Government has announced a new five-level plan designed to live with Covid-19. As expected, it was announced that the country is on Level 2. But what does Level 2 mean?

It means that the majority of areas of the economy and society, such as schools, restaurants, pubs and gyms, are open. Sporting activities can continue, but with a higher level of restriction.

In your home or garden

Visitors from one other household only or up to six visitors from two/three other households.

Outside your home

Members of different households can continue to meet socially in other settings up to six people indoors, and up to 15 outdoors from one, two or three other households.

Weddings

Up to 50 people can attend a wedding ceremony and reception.

Funerals

Up to 50 mourners can attend.

Organised indoor gatherings

Up to 50 patrons are permitted and in pods or groups of up to six if appropriate, with arrangements to ensure no intermingling of groups.

Up to 100 patrons are permitted for larger venues where strict two-metre seated social distancing and one-way controls for entry and exit can be implemented.

For very large purpose-built event facilities (such as stadiums, auditoriums, conference or event centres) specific guidance will be developed with the relevant sectors to take account of size and different conditions for larger events.

Organised outdoor gatherings

Up to 100 patrons are permitted for the majority of venues.

Up to 200 patrons for outdoor stadiums or other fixed outdoor venues with a minimum accredited capacity of 5,000.

For very large purpose-built event facilities specific guidance will be developed with the relevant sectors to take account of size and different conditions for larger events.

port

Training outdoors can take place in pods of up to 15 (exemption for professional/elite/inter-county sports/senior club championship).

Training Indoors: Training, exercise and dance classes can take place in pods of up to six inside (exemption for professional/elite/inter-county sports/senior club championship).

Matches and events

Up to 100 patrons/spectators outdoors and 50 patrons/spectators indoors.

Up to 200 for outdoor stadiums or other fixed outdoor venues with a minimum accredited capacity of 5,000.

For very large purpose-built event facilities (for example: stadiums, auditoriums, conference or event centres) specific guidance will be developed with the relevant sectors to take account of size and different conditions for larger events.

Bars, cafes and restaurants (including hotel restaurants and bars)

Open with protective measures in place.

Maximum numbers linked to capacity of establishment with individual groups limited to six people from up to three households.

Wet pubs

Open with robust protective measures in place.

Maximum numbers linked to capacity of establishment, individual groups limited to six people from no more than three households or the prevailing advice on the mixing of households.

Work

Work from home if possible. If you can work from home, you are advised to only attend work for essential on-site meetings, inductions and training.

Those aged over 70 and the medically vulnerable

Exercise judgement regarding the extent to which they engage with others and in activities outside home.

Specific guidance will be provided.

Nursing homes/ long-term residential facilities

Open with enhanced protective measures.

Dublin is different

Dublin city and county are also on Level 2, but with extra restrictions in place. Read the extra measures here.

From what I gather from this is the ramping up of the 'new normal' narrative. The 'virus' is going nowhere peasants. Level is the best people can expect, and even that is highly restricted.
If you don't behave, your Nana won't be allowed come visit for Christmas.

This is tyranny, make no mistake.

I met a man once holding two pints and talking about a 5 point plan.

On a serious note, this disease appears to be spreading rather than decreasing recently (because of more testing now, compared to before).

After six months or so, people may have become more lax in observing the guidelines and to compound this, the reopening of society means that more people are in more close circulation hence the increase in the rate of infection.

Quarantine is the only surefire way to stop the disease spreading.
Short of quarantine, the government appear to work with what appears to be an evolving situation.

Remember Britain tried the herd immunity route and over there they're seeing an increase in transmission too recently.

Ask yourself this, if the media stopped the fear mongering, would anyone know the virus even existed?
Increased testing with very dubious methods and of course the numbers will increase. Nobody is actually falling ill with this.

WTF is the end game with this??

Diseases usually increase through more spreading rather than more testing.

Britain tried the herd immunity for probably 2 to 3 weeks more than Ireland hardly going to make that much difference.

People probably have become more lax over the summer. They were unlikely to have been goody two shoes all the time. People probably will improve as we go in to winter.

Infection rate has increased throughout the past 3 weeks.
And the rate of deaths has started to increase (from a very very low threshold)
