A very interesting and well made documentary on a highly talented and complex man, who's life mirrored the development of the USA in the mid 20th century.

He was a phenomenal musician and I am sure he worked ridiculously hard to get to where he was.. The rest was whistles and bells ,but it worked ,here we are talking about him years later. I wouldn't be a fan or listen to him but if he comes on , I always cast an eye

Same here. His persona is really want people remember. But, as you say, without the hard work he put into his music the persona would have been nothing.
