Delaney loaned almost €250,000 to a property firm he partly owns, as the FAI was paying his rent.

Such an incredibly generous man.... :sneaky:

He was going through 'protracted' divorce proceedings and around the same time he loans 100k and 250K to 'worthy' causes. He's obviously got lots of money so I am sure he provided a generous settlement for his wife and their twins who are now in their mid teens.

Didn't he regularly buy huge rounds of drinks for football fans? money clearly means nothing to him. He'll help anybody..

He was obviously moving cash around to avoid giving half to a woman half of 100,000 + half of 250,000 is a nice bit of cash but if he didnt have it she couldnt get her paws on it simple male economics. Many a rotten rich hisband has put his cash balance into loans etc to hold them till the ink is dry on the papers of divorce. Look at the recent case in london an arab got sharia law to stop his wife touching his huge yacht. Simple male economics now theres load of cash coming back to spend on a super plastic blonde with lovely white teeth - the mid life crisis choice for most males and a super car too . !!

I feel like he's the perfect symbol for celtic tiger Ireland and how we turned our backs on everything that made us good- a financially corrupt gombeen who left his wife, who was a teacher, to be with some fake blonde minger who's good from far but far from good.

The Independent today reveals another 36k loan to a connected company, again at the time of the 'protracted' divorce negotiations. The article does not indicate the company was desparate for a dig out. In fact it had no employees in 2017, the year of the loan, and would appear perhaps not to be trading!.

Gangster Delaney waltzes in and gives the two fingers to the Committee.

Many thanks to Angela Kerins and the gobshites who voted down that Referendum
a few years ago.

And Pat Hickey is smiling to himself at how well he chose......

A total boycott of matches to cut the umbilical cord of cash for Delaney and the other wasters is the only solution going by the two fingers they have given today.

Was the financial crisis that threatened the FAI due to the cost of John Delaney?

Basic salary €360,000 pa + employer PRSI 10.75%. rent allowance €36,000 pa. Expense Account ?????? His FAI pension scheme.
Company car ( + driver ?).

Probably not much change out of €500,000 each year.

Has the FAI never heard of cash flow statements? With a financial controller and accounts staff and Delaney himself is an accountant (though not clear if he passed the final exams of Chartered Accountants Ireland) you would think that cash flow statements would be used and updated regularly to avoid the situation that (allegedly) happened.

If Delaney's cost was the trigger for the crisis, this would explain why he took out his cheque book.

Incidentally, how many other 'accountants' keep 100k in their current accounts?

And.......if there was a cash flow problem, and delaney wanted to ‘help’, couldn’t he have forefone his costs for two months, and recoup them later. That way, there wouldn’t have been any hue and cry, and his little secret could have been kept under wraps?

The Sunday Times reveals today that Delaney charged €40k to his FAI credit card in the last 6 months of 2016 - including his duty free purchases, meals in his local pub, €400 at a Tommy Hilfiger store, other charges from stores that could not relate to genuine business use of his FAI card.......

The FAI refused to answer questions from the Sunday Times as to whether he had to produce receipts for purchases on the card or whether he refunded any of the charges. They also refused to answer a question about a payment of €60k in early 2014 to a third party labelled 'professional fees.'

Ah no, sure that could have upset all kinds of contracts duly signed by the great man.
