ITALY and the European Union are on course for a dramatic showdown in Brussels today, with the bloc poised to start the ball rolling on a process which would see the imposition of sanctions against Rome over its controversial budget plans.

Good on ya Salvini. Tell the fascists in the eu where to go!!!!! This is one battle the eurofukwits are going to loose. If they punish Italy, they just make Salvini stronger in the eyes of Italians. There is no good news in this for the eu and that gives a huge warm fuzzy feeling.

VIVA Salvini!!!!!!

Italy regards itself, and is regarded by Germany and France, as being a core member of the European Community project and the European Union project, and the Eurozone.

Germany and France in the past ignored European Union imposed budget constraints, when needed.

It will be interesting to see which side blinks first.

Why didn't the EU step in during 2008-13 and prevent Ireland running up our debt from 25% to 125% of GDP ?

It's almost as if they benefited. :nomouth:
