Ruth Negga to play Hamlet in new Gate Theatre production
When did the Irish become Irish -Ethiopians? You are either Irish or Ethiopian.
So Hamlet in case anyone was wondering was the story of a Danish Prince, in and around the 1600's. A tragic story wrote by Shakespear. considered to be one of his most powerful works. Today what better way to portray that story than giving the lead title not only to a woman but a black woman. History accuracy clearly is not the goal here but liberal political correctness.
Because of this new found love for liberal political correctness, I look forward in anticipation to Dublin's Gate THeartres production of 12 years a slave, the story of an African American man who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C. by two conmen in 1841 and sold into slavery. Naturally, in the spirit of political correctness and fairness this play will be played by a white Irish Man or woman, Or we could go full hog and find an Irish -British Man or Woman.
