This is one of the few times I agree with a DCC decision. The shops on Henry St pay megabucks in rates only to have the place converted into a carboot sale during their busiest time of year. There's no value in having those stalls in that location, either from the public or city's perspective but if they really want to do something I suggest using Jervis St Park instead.
Most of the shops on Henry street are chain stores which could be anywhere.

Without Dublin's indigenous traders Dublin loses its character and becomes less Irish.

My question to politicians is why should we actually bother voting for them?
Especially when the next General Election comes around. I would suggest boycotting the sitting TD's of the main political parties and voting for their unelected running mates instead. That should learn them.

My hunch is that the politicians are too chickenshit to call time on NPHET's failed suppression strategy and only an economic shock will save us. Interest rates going up suddenly would end the funny money bullshit thats been paying to keep thousands idle.
You have bear in mind that if the politicians don't do what the NPHET wants; you can expect the press to go berserk against the government.

Just because I believe a woman should be the one to make any serious decisions about parts of her own body directly connected to her
does not logically mean that I do not or indeed should not care about human life per se.

so what the fuck are you on about?
This in not a viewpoint that any sane society can tolerate. Think about the long-term implications.

There are a couple of posters on this site, staunch defenders of the great economic reset where the majority will "own nothing and be happy about it". Ireland has always been rife with traitorous scum of this stripe, from gombeen land agents to historians who blamed the Irish holocaust on a combination of potato blight and lack of industry among the peasantry. Imperialism never went away, it just rebranded itself as globalism. Evil is real and it never sleeps. It is coming for your homes and your livelihoods, your rights and your children's futures. It has no conscience and no remorse and it will not stop until it is met blow for blow by the fury of people with nothing left to lose. History should have taught us these lessons but it seems we are doomed by our ignorance to allow ourselves to be forever robbed and displaced by the global elite and their Irish lackeys.

I don't see how they exploited it vis-a-vis the West. China already has a society run along authoritarian lines with control of the masses. Certainly they upped their game in terms of introducing further social controls but that was on their own populace.

As for the West, it does seem very much that way.
...and the owners of the West's political parties are all agog to see if they can replicate China's repressive social policies in their home countries under the guise of fighting an imaginary virus.

Agree 100%. And those who still 'have' at this stage will only be lucky for so long. This time they are coming for all of us. Billionaires will eat millionaires and floss with the poor. People should by now realize where the train is headed.

Economist Dan O'Brien was on Newstalk yesterday saying that he believes there is a real possibility that the Irish state will go bankrupt within the next 2 years.

The lockdown extremists told us that the lockdown was to protect the health service but what kind of health service will we have when the state is bankrupt and hundreds of thousands of people are unemployed ?
It isn't bankrupt already?

Just take more money from the money tree? Maybe they figure that 'going forward' money doesn't need to be backed by anything and it won't matter if a State is in debt or not maybe as long as they can keep paying the interest or even where they don't. That way, they can pay everyone a Universal Basic Income on pain of compliance with 'dem's de rules'. What could go wrong!

I think the state going bankrupt is the point.
The real head scratcher is our so called socialists are all for it even when can we see that the Billionaires have increased their wealth by an enormous factor as a result of the crisis.
But as the saying goes, todays 'Socialists' are in fact the shock troops of Capital. And if not that they're generally a bunch of impotent, fence sitting phaggots.
Mockers and scoffers, good for nothing really.

I'd suppose that the loan the state got was to shield the government from the immediate financial consequences of the lockdown and enabled them keep the scamdemic going. It's also proof of the bankruptcy of the state.
