You cannot justify Demographic Rape & the current overloading of any Infrastructure by deliberating whether or not Historical Immigration from small, Old World Countries into large New World Countries is good, bad or indifferent.
You hate Ireland, pose as a "Liberal" & Weaponise Immigration against Ireland for malevolent Reasons.
Yes it yes it is an empire but just a different kind of one based at home and based on the United States model. It is based around immigration but the blacks and Indians from the colonies were the first to move to England in the 60's so that was the influx from the old empire. True tony blairs immigration policy saw a massive upsurge in different ethnicities entering the UK from non commonwealth countries but that is what they are basing their new multi cultural empire around - people from every country in the world so they have access to those countries via intelligence agencies.
You say big business opened the doors for cheap labour but I would put it to you, if the UK didn't have the supply of workers willing to do those jobs then the only way to keep the economy functioning effectively is to get that labour from elsewhere. Are you now going to turn around to me and say that there was no shortage of labour in those industries? Taking in migrants to plug a hole is the right thing to do for the country's economy. And with the amount of English that seek higher paying jobs in the City and services industry the only way to keep manufacturing going is to take in people who will do those jobs for those prices. It's not such a bad thing!
What does it mean "the economy needs them"? Who/What is "the economy"? If you are saying the short term needs of big business required them then you are right. If you mean the short term needs of politicians needing tax revenue to fund vote winning spending giveaways you are right.
But if you asked the population back then if they should admit all these people they would have said no in an emphatic manner.
And so what if they didn't bring them in back then? Private businesses which are now long gone and forgotten that needed those workers would have disappeared a few years earlier. Politicians that are now long forgotten would have had less tax revenue to buy votes.
Small numbers in the business and political classes needed those immigrants. The country didn't need them. The people didn't need them and didn't want them.
So in order to serve the short-term interests of these self serving gombeen classes a permanent problem was created and now the current population is left suffering as a consequence.
I forsee the UK leaving the EU with no agreement in place.
The UK will be willing to leave the border open to people and goods travelling from the south to the north turning a blind eye to the odd illegal immigrant and the locals smuggling the odd container load of diesel across and all that kind of carry on .
The UK will only taking steps to stop commercial organisations attempting to flagrantly bypass the tarrifs that will be in place for EU countries selling goods into the UK.
It will be the EU who will insist that there is a hard border in place for people and goods travelling from the North to the South. The population of Ireland will see that it is the EU and not the UK that is responsible for any Hard Border that is in place post Brexit.
