The SyFy Channel has a very interesting miniseries called "Childhoods End", based on the 1953 novel by Arthur C Clarke (great book by the way). The basic plot is that alien 'Overlords' come to Earth and announce an enforced end to all war and poverty.

Our own Colm Meaney (doing a real 'oirish' accent) leads the opposition to imposed utopia.

Its interesting to watch, particularly that the SyFy channel's version of utopia is a lot more like communism than the original novel.

Is this already showing?

Sounds like a great idea for a TV series, will check it out!

Watched this, started off really well but I feel that it really was a let down by the third instalment.

However it has inspired me to download the book to read as others have said the book is far superior, so thanks for this.
