AT A PHOTOCALL ON THURSDAY OCTOBER 24TH Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan launched a public consultation on proposed updating of existing legislation to cover "perceived hate speech". Also in attendance was Minister for Immigration David Stanton and Councillor for the Green Party for Pembroke Ward, Hazel Chu. Also in attendance and pictured wearing a high visibility Dublin Bus vest, was an individual described in the press release as "athlete Brandon Arrey".

Also on Thursday October 24th Minister Flanagan then appeared on the RTE Radio 1 show "Drivetime" informing presenter Mary Wilson he felt the law needed to be changed in light of speech addressed to him at the Ploughing Championships that he found "new" and "disturbing" and which he is "very keen to ensure does not become normalised in our society". The verbal content to which the Minister refers can be heard in the clip below.

Concurrently on Thursday, Brandon Arrey, a 23 year old Cameroon native now living in Ireland and who represented Ireland in the European Athletics Championships in 2018, posted on his Twitter page (@brandonarr3y):

"Honour to meet Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan at consultation today. A new legislation to tackle hate speech will be implemented in Ireland. An updated version of this law which will reflect the changes in modern day society with the development of social media platforms." An accompanying photograph shows Mr. Arrey shaking hands with the Minister.

In a tweet then posted by Mr. Arrey at 12.26p.m. on Saturday October 26th in response to a tweet posted by journalist Gemma O'Doherty advising of a protest against the proposed legislation, Mr. Arrey wrote unilaterally to Ms. O'Doherty:

There's a difference between hate speech and free speech Gemma. We need hate laws in this country, because you cant sit there and tell me your supporters can insult someone due to their skin colour or sexual preference and not get prosecuted for it. Thats not how the world works”

Three hours later following Mr. Arrey's tweet, Minister Flanagan's Twitter account at 3.40p.m. retweeted Mr. Arrey's Thursday tweet adding the commentary:

My real pleasure to meet 400m athlete @brandonarr3y. The 400m is a really long sprint. It's a really tough run made for special people like Brandon. Delighted to wish him all the best personally & for Ireland.”

However at 2.40p.m. one hour earlier, Twitter user Broadsword @ForFactsSake101 posted a tweet bearing three screenshots of historic tweets posted on Mr. Arrey's account. This tweet is posted below. One of the tweets reposted and attributed to Mr. Arrey is dated 15th May 2013 and reads: “Went to the burren today and the tour guide beuor kept calling “Brendan”!!!! I was like MY NAME IS BRANDON YOU FUCKING WHORE!!!

Concurrently, Ivy League academic Professor Jeremiah Honkleberg of Minsk, Belarus and Dalkey, South Dublin (@allpassingthing) at 2.29p.m. tweeted:

As can be observed by the postings uploaded by Professor Honkleberg, the posts attributed to Mr. Arrey include “that Mexican cvnt is still showering”, “don't even look for sympathy you fucking Mexican scumbag!!!” and at 22.37 on 13th November 2013 “well you are a Mexican bastard and your mother is gonna have a miscarriage and die with the unborn baby still inside her!!!”

Professor Honkleberg then posted a further series of tweets bearing repostings from Mr. Arrey's account, which can be seen below, including “white Coloured person” and “Shut the fuck up you white wigger #GodDamCracker #BlackPower

Then at 3.01p.m. twitter regular Oliver Doran (@Oliver_Doran) identified a further posting on Mr. Arrey's account, posted at 9.59p.m. at 10th November 2013 “sorry I kept this from you for so long but your mother is pregnant with my baby, The fucking whore can't keep her legs closed" and a further posting on at 10.57p.m. on 16th May 2015 "Me: Is that girl really holy? Colm: yup, she likes taking it up the hole alright.”

Twitter user @davedublin3 then discovered a post from 7th March 2018 which read:

"Doesn't it hurt when an "African" has more to give to Ireland than your grand parent gave and your kids will ever give".

Twitter users viewing the platform on Saturday afternoon observing the revelations unfolding expressed marked surprise that Minister Flanagan would engage the services of an individual who had publicly posted such content to promote the introduction of hate speech legislation to protect minorities living in Ireland, and then endorse him on Twitter at 3.40p.m. - referring to him as “special people like Brandon” - after the controversial tweets had been identified.

This should be shown as far and wide as possible to media outlets, And show how disastrous and unprofessional all FG Minister's at governing and completely unfit for purpose”, tweeted Tony Murray (@XbossTony).

Wow, what the fuck was Flanagan thinking. That miscarriage one is particularly bad” tweeted user Andy (@cronny86), “I'm in totally disbelie They really couldn't give a flying F@## what we think,we are beneath them ” (@joelong25500334)

and “Seriously Charles, thanks for giving everyone such cracking entertainment on a Bank Holiday Saturday. Classic @FineGael farce and comedy gold” (@saynooptout).

However at approximately 6p.m. Minister's Flanagan 3.40p.m. was no longer displaying Mr. Arrey's tweet from October 24. The Minister's text remained, but underneath it “This tweet is unavailable”. A click on the link displayed Mr. Arrey's account as “These tweets are protected”.

At the time of writing, Minister Flanagan's 3.40p.m. tweet has received 141 responses, uniformly critical of the Minister and Mr. Arrey's account displays as closed bearing the text “This account doesn't exist”.

A legal expert speaking exclusively to Political Irish said tonight:

As a verified associate of Mr. Flanagan in his campaign to introduce hate speech legislation, Mr. Arrey's tweets serve as a good benchmark of what those proposing the legislation consider acceptable speech and should be exhibited in any subsequent prosecution of an Irish citizen for hate speech, to avoid the judiciary being forced to make a subjective assessment of the intention of the drafters of any Act. Similarly, given Councillor Hazel Chu's participation in the photocall on Thursday, Councillor Chu's tweets could also be considered in light of any independent prosecution.

Anyone concerned that their speech or opinions may infringe the proposed definition set out by Minister Flanagan and Garda Commissioner Drew Harris, may wish to exercise due diligence and keep in reserve hard color copies of Mr. Arrey's posts to assist in any defence in the event of a charge brought by the DPP".

Its fair to say Charlie needs to disavow himself from this creature immediately? .... Congrats on this Amazing thread  Nicenin

Yes, this is a fantastic OP. Well done Nicenin.

As for Charlie Flanagan, he is a serial offender when it comes to A Person concerned about immigration hate speech - against the existence of the Irish people. He usually makes these hate speeches to hordes of foreign invaders.

Hate speech in a nutshell. An immigrant can make any accusations he likes against Irish people, but is immune to any such accusations himself.

Also, the people pushing for hate speech are journalists who should be the defenders of free speech. Justine, Collette, Kitty etc.

Waters is right. media are totally corrupt.

Varadkar said the Irish people were less likely to work and pay taxes than migrants.
Is this hate speech.
One of his Ministers said Irish people were less attractive before mass immigration and needed foreign genes to nake them more attractive.
This?.
