So Pell attempted to audit the Vatican bank....now he's in prison...

The plot thickens.
This is going to be big.

Using leaked Vatican documents, the Italian journal L’Espresso has revealed details of unauthorized financial transactions, concluding that “the Holy See is facing a scandal that has few precedents in recent history.”

When you factor in that the Australian police had decided to nail Pell before any evidence was uncovered then the question of police corruption becomes too big to ignore.

Yes, that was a curious one (Operation "Tethering").

It'll be interesting to see what comes out of investigations into the V's financial irregularities. Who knows, some intrepid investigative journalist might discover a connection between it and the Pell case.

I'm not sure which stinks more, the Vatican Bank or the Australian Justice system.

The cardinal Pell has been granted leave to appeal his conviction

But with alleged friends like this archbishop Coleridge who needs enemies.
The unfortunate cardinal Pell is simply exercising his legal rights to try clear his name from what looks very like an unjust conviction.

This archbishop coleridge head of the Australian catholic Bishops Conference simply wishes that the imprisoned cardinal would simply go away.

Of course what else would you expect from Coleridge who is a spear carrier for a satanic antipope..

A very cowardly and underhanded statement from Coleridge. Certainly not what we might expect from any kind of spiritual leader.

Shocking news that such a miscarriage of justice could have happened, equally shocking the tweets of outraged anti Catholic feminists which are probably libelous (the subtext is that he was guilty because he was a Catholic Priest).

They are hysterical.

This leaves the Catholic hierarchy in a very interesting position.

I wonder how many will apologise for the shabby and vindictive treatment meted out to the cardinal.

Did this interview seal his fate?

"I've got a great admiration for the Jews but we don't need to exaggerate their contribution in their early days," he said on ABC television. "They weren't intellectually the equal of [the Egyptians or Persians] – intellectually, morally ... The poor – the little Jewish people, they were originally shepherds. They were stuck. They're still stuck between these great powers."

Fantastic news. Thanks be to God. This has been the crucifixion of an innocent man by bigoted fanatics.

YES- Deo Gratias!

The only reasonable verdict that could be reached.

Under the Common Law you are entitled to the presumption of innocence

- what happened here is that the jury proceeded on the basis

- that he was Guilty...

This trial would never have gone ahead

- if the defendant had not been other than a high ranking Prelate of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.

The fact that the most bitter and vile anti Catholic prejudice was allowed to govern the whole rotten conduct of the trial by the powers that be -and most of the media -shows that there must now be a serious review of how any future investigations of alleged child sexual abuse are handled

The principle of the presumption of innocence must never be lost sight of...
