Are they having a laugh?

BAI has recommended that RTÉ be given an immediate increase in public funding of at least €30 million per year.
The recommendation comes following a five-year review of Ireland’s public service broadcasters and also found that TG4 was in need of further public funding of €6 million per year.

BAI backs 'immediate' €30m-a-year increase in public funding for RTÉ

10. Darragh Moloney €188,803 (not in 2014 figures)
9. Bryan Dobson – €195,913 (€195,816 in 2014)
8. Nicky Byrne €200,583 (not in 2014 figures)
7. Claire Byrne €201,500 (not in 2014 figures)
6. Sean O’Rourke – €290,113 (€290,096 in 2014)
5. Marian Finucane – €295,000 (€295,000 in 2014)
4. Miriam O’Callaghan – €299,000 (€280,445 in 2014)
3. Joe Duffy – €389,988 (€416,893 in 2014)
2. Ray D’Arcy €400,000 (not in 2014 figures)
1. Ryan Tubridy €495,000 (€495,000 in 2014)

ignoring the other overpaid idiots for a moment, how can Marian Finucane's salary be justified? She works two days a week. Not only that, but many times I tune in there is somebody sitting in for her. Absolute disgrace.

You are right it is an exorbitant salary as are the others but MF is only on the two days so wow...who makes the decisions? Ido not watch or listen to RTE or even have a TV station provider, we use Netflix so like many others we are paying for a licence fee to watch Netflix and pay Netflix to watch Netflix. This is unfair and I'm not sure people will happily fork out more money for a licence fee the do not engage with.

They need to streamline the station if it can not operate within a specific budget. They show way to many useless gutter shows and re-runs of gutter shows and have some terrible 'top stars' that suffer from the L'Oreal effect.

Your last sentence sums up RTE mediocrity. Any night I turn on the late late, most guests are z list celebrities making their umpteenth appearance. RTE make no effort to get any interesting guests on. Just the same crowd week in week out. I'm amazed they still have relatively high viewing figures

People in Britain complain about the BBC but I think they are a much more professional outfit than RTE. Far better political programs; better series' etc. RTE have become very complacent in recent years.
