Not the UK of course. The point being that they allowed people to migrate there and they weren't fleeing war, they may not have claimed to be refugees but thousands stayed illegally and still do.
The point being we did NOT go to those countries pretending to be refugees , secondly you had to have a work visa and go through the proper channels in order to enter those countries . Thirdly , if someone is illegal , they should be deported 'immediately' and that applies to illegal irish or anyone else who enters a country either illegally or ends up illegal . Go through the proper channels , thats my view on it .

Who's pretending to be 'refugees'? You're quite right the Irish (let's adopt your generalising methodology) were economic migrants who went abroad and in many cases took jobs from locals, took housing, added a burden to social services and many gained entry on false pretences which is why so many are now stuck in the US....

And technically they were wrong to do so just like these immigrants are,
but were driven by poor political policies, as are these immigrants.

The creators of those poor policies should carry the can. If you break it you own it.
In the case of these immigrants it is those other countries such as france UK and the US, Saudi Arabia and Qatar who fomented the wars to destroy these countries and their economies to profit from it. We didn't do any of it, nor did we stand to profit from those wars.

How many refugees has Saudi arabia taken in to date from Libya Yemen and Syria?
Let them take their full quotas first for their meddling.

And lets hear people like yourself saying that instead of advocating dumping the problem on people like us who bear no responsibility here.

I suggested it may be a factor as to why people are fleeing? What's the war in China, what's the story in Georgia?
And who gives a toss what they're fleeing? Why should we take them in?

I must have imagined the US military in Shannon Airport?

In the mean time we tell people to f"ck off, no thanks! Are you honestlysuggesting we base our migrant strategy/refugee resettlement policies on the those countries?
