Its just a myth though, creating gold out of something trivial.

Not really. The creating gold came from Aristotle's idea that all material substances come from a single primary substance. This is not actually wrong, as today's quantum physics show. But alchemy is a much bigger field than metallurgy. The transformation of the spirit is probably more important in the tradition.

It was achieved in the 80's using particle accelerators, though the effort required to produce miniscule amounts of gold was obviously not economical.

But amazingly, it can be done.

I'm not suggesting alchemists really understood that this would ever be possible, but there are some freakishly smart people out there who perhaps can foresee possibilities without having the means to explain the process.

Impossible to prove whether these people were visionaries or charlatans. Tesla made many predictions in his time too. Perhaps many of his failed ideas have a kernel of truth which he couldn't unfurl, try as he might. Or perhaps not.

The Alchemists believed that all matter is made from the same fundamental substance. Today, String Theory suggests the same thing.

Gaelach, digging up old, and irrelevant, obscurities, distracts us from the magic which controls reality... This was once the Masonic Illuminati, now some other similar creed, affecting the world through its American trash, brought about by the posher Thelema, and the precursor of contemporary Americanism, Chaos Magick.

I'm enjoying the video series on post #5.

The explanations of how alchemy inspired the thinking of its prominent adherents could prove useful in understanding the manifestations of some modern schools of thought.
