I think this should be brought up in the run up to the election. FF/ Progressive Democrats instigated the whole privatisation craze, while Leo Thatcher has been pushing for more of it in recent years. Labour and The Green Party being the smoked salmon socialists that they are did little to stand in the way of this Libertarian-style movement where once efficiently run state sectors from waste collection to telecoms are now essentially profit driven, disorganised messes with the bottom line being to rip off the customer to the greatest extent possible.

Thankfully it failed when it came to the water charges, but the Libertarians and Thatcherites will remain relentless in seeking to push their "everything for profit" agenda on the rest of us in future.

Since waste collection was privatised many deprived areas of Dublin have become open tipping sites with unbelievable accumulation of garbage.

I can only imagine what would happen with water privatisation, it does not bear thinking about. It is another notch on the axe of FFGRTE which they have taken to this country over the last few decades.

Healthcare should be public and free to use. Ireland's healthcare system is a complete shambles. You pay 60e to even smile at a doctor. The whole thing needs a rapid overall, and should be universal. The problem is there are too many big companies making too much from the already broken system....where theres chaos theres money.

The problem with public vs private in the workforce is the incentive and motivation. Personally, I'd neve work for a public company. I actually like being accountable and half something to give.

stop wasting money on long-term dole-heads. First priority.

Then we will have the dosh to ensure better public services. For all, especially PAYE workers who should get a little extra from their public services.
More guards, prisons and legal aid needed then. Either way the country pays.

The Greens were strongly in favour of the water privatisation agenda. They are also strongly in favour of de-greening Ireland through mass immigration. They appeal to student types. They are useful to FFGRTE in that they give a 'progressive' excuse for regressive moves like waste and water privatisation or carbon taxes that affect the less well off more.
