Like most religions, Christianity is awash with contradictions & hypocrisy. Powerful institutions always use double-speak to garner their power from a populace of eejits.

Jesus is a poor beggar - jesus is king of kings

god is kind - god is an angry vengeful bully

jesus was a heretic - today we punish and excommunicate heretics

love & forgive all women - we have zero tolerance of tu'penny hooers in our green & pleasant land

You simply cannot reason with religious loons. They will always win every argument and only show loyalty to themselves and their Bronze age cult.

Money .. that is what the religious orders need to give up.

i seen the poor sisters of somewhere or other sold some land over the southside very recently for €30 million .. This should be taken from them along with all properties ... i wonder how much the church got for all hallows , their seminary and gang bang club on the grace park road .. a lot of houses have been built on it

Yesterday it was violence, today you propose stealing money and property from religious orders.
Do you mean in "real life" or is this just something you say on the internet?

Unfortunately the catholic church and government cannot be compelled to compensate victims via the courts. The only way for victimes to get monetary compensation is through a voluntary redress scheme instigated by government. The church can only be "encouraged" to participate.

They goofed up by apologising. The media (and lawyers) are going to be all over them like a cheap suit now.

Yep seriously dumb move that will see them taken to the cleaners...

They should have awaited the full excavation of the site in question before making comment.

They will look awful foolish if it is ever excavated and they find piddle all down there re '800 babies'!

If they were going to find any damning evidence, they would have found it by now.

They've been digging in that site for so long that they must be down to cretaceous strata.

Yes, a dumb move. Never apologise until you know the full facts.
