Taoiseach Micheál Martin, Tánaiste Simon Harris, and eight government ministers are set to visit the United States during St. Patrick’s Week as part of an extensive global outreach initiative. The travel plans, which Mr. Harris will present to the Cabinet, form part of Ireland’s annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, with ministers expected to visit nearly 40 locations worldwide.
As part of the US visit, ministers will travel to key cities, including Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta, Savannah, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. These engagements aim to strengthen Ireland’s ties with political leaders at both federal and state levels, reinforcing the significance of US-Ireland relations.
Emphasizing the economic importance of these connections, government representatives will highlight the €1 trillion annual trade and investment relationship between Ireland and the US. The delegation will also promote Ireland’s role as a key partner in business, innovation, and cultural exchange.
While the White House has yet to confirm the Taoiseach’s traditional St. Patrick’s Day visit, officials assure that this is not unusual, as final arrangements are typically made closer to March 17.
Speaking ahead of the Cabinet meeting, Tánaiste Simon Harris expressed confidence that the Taoiseach will receive an invitation to meet President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C. Mr. Harris also confirmed his own plans to visit New York and Philadelphia as part of Ireland’s diplomatic engagements in the US.
